We’ve achieved Millie’s Mark
We are proud to announce that The Stables Day Nursery Swinton has been awarded Millie’s Mark — the Gold Standard in paediatric first aid.
Awarded on 23rd April 2026 and valid until April 2029, this recognition demonstrates that 100% of our staff working directly with children are trained in paediatric first aid — going above and beyond the minimum legal requirements to keep your child safe.
What is Millie’s Mark?

Millie’s Mark is a prestigious Quality Mark awarded by the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) in association with the Department for Education and Millie’s Trust. It is named after Millie Thompson, who tragically passed away in 2012 after choking at a nursery. Her parents, Dan and Joanne Thompson, campaigned tirelessly for all nursery staff to receive paediatric first aid training, and Millie’s Mark was created in her memory.
Holding Millie’s Mark shows that a nursery has not only met the highest standards but actively works to keep these life-saving skills at the forefront of every team member’s mind.
What it means for your child
At The Stables, we have worked hard over the past six months to achieve this award.
Our robust processes and documentation mean that every member of our team is competent and confident in applying paediatric first aid in any situation — giving you greater peace of mind every single day.
